After a routine trip to my GP to remove my coil, I was referred to see a gynaecologist as she was unhappy with her findings. I had a sleepless night. When I called the hospital in the morning I was told a gynaecologist, Mr Hextall was available to see me within two hours. I was in a highly anxious state when we first met. Mr Hextall has an extremely calming approach, that immediately put me at ease. Although the subject matter could have been embarrassing, he was incredibly sympathetic and professional in the way he asked questions. He explained clearly about the investigation, the plan of action, the minor procedure and the timescale of the above events. I felt a huge weight lifted off my shoulder immediately as I knew I was in safe hands. All aspects of the above went completely to plan and some ongoing treatment has been arranged with a physio. I know I can call him again at any time if I have further symptoms. I thoroughly recommend Mr Andrew Hextall as a kind, caring and truly professional gynaecologist. Marian Holt

Like so many women, I had serious urinary incontinence issues after having my first child. I came across Mr Hextall whilst I was pregnant with my final child in his capacity as an NHS obstetrician. I saw he was highly regarded in the area of female incontinence and decided to return to him privately once the baby was past six months. He was extremely helpful, listened to all my concerns, believed me and was sympathetic. He did a brief examination and then subject to no issues coming up on a subsequent urodynamics test, arranged a date then and there for the TVT. No waiting or begging required whatsoever which is what I had feared. He also allayed my concerns with some great statistics on the outcomes of his previous surgeries of that nature as I was of course fully aware that not everybody has a good outcome with some surgeons. The operation itself was straightforward and I was very pleased with how he treated me on the day. The recovery was swift and uncomplicated and exactly as he described it would be. I saw him twice for follow-up because he wanted to ensure a minor post surgery complication was improving which it was. Four months later and I can say the operation has transformed my life in that regard and I will always be very grateful for Mr Hextall's expertise and very glad I found him.

Mr Hextall has a kind and reassuring manner. He listens carefully and answers the patients questions clearly and straightforwardly. His own questions are thorough and probing but asked sensitively. What most impressed me however was his skill as a surgeon. I was very anxious about the procedure ( TVT) because although it is classed as a relatively simple procedure, a close friend of mine had had terrible complications with the same procedure in a different part of the country and ultimately it did not correct the problem. My experience was so different - from the consultation to the tests to the procedure itself to the aftercare everything went precisely according to plan and to a timetable of my choosing. Recovery was exactly as had been explained to me and the scars are tiny, virtually invisible. Margaret (Mr H's secretary) was very approachable and helpful with any queries that I had. The entire process was as painless ( in all senses of the word) as possible and I am delighted with the results- I would unreservedly recommend Mr Hextall and his team for this procedure.
